As of August 1st, the Canadian Association of Second Language Teachers (CASLT) has taken over the contract for maintaining and marketing the LangCanada website, a portal site established by Official Languages Support Branch of Canadian Heritage. The site has been in existence since 2003 and has over 3,500 educational resources, educational materials, a listing of 500 training organizations and information that enhances second official language teaching and learning in Canada.

The CASLT specifically recognizes the potential of technology as an effective method of disseminating information on innovative practices and language support programs to enrich the acquisition of a second language and its teaching. In cooperation with Heritage Canada, the CASLT proposes to establish a stakeholder advisory committee to help direct and guide the next steps for this portal website and to support its marketing.
