French as a Second Language: Formative Assessment Package
- Beginner Level (recommended grade levels: 4 to 6)

The fruit of the collaborative work of teams of teachers from across Canada, these Formative Assessment Packages are a valuable resource for teachers wishing to improve student language learning by moving toward more supportive and rigorous assessment.
These innovative packages clearly present:
- principles for designing formative assessment instruments
- over 25 samplers of tasks for assessing speaking, listening, writing and reading within a communicative/experiential approach
- a variety of practical assessment instruments to duplicate for classroom use. These include performance charts; analytical and holistic rating scales; observation forms and checklists; peer-assessment and self-assessment forms; surveys; objective-style questions.
